Went for breakfast with a friend. Looks lovely, lots of lovely food on offer, pretty busy as well for a midweek morning. We ordered at the tills, the food was very nice, the service though?! What happened? It seemed that they didnt really want us there tbh, couldnt have hurt to smile, surely. I honestly dont know if I would go again or recommend it. I would for the food and general look/feel of the place but not if the staff act like they dont want us there. Also they do cover intolerances well although they charged 40p for different types of milk (except soya). My friend had oat milk and was given a tiny amount so asked for more and was given the carton. Also, I had a bottled drink from the fridge and wasnt offered a glass, although some were stacked nearby so I just took one. It felt like the sort of place they would offer better service usually (also with the kind of cost where you expect better service).
What a great place for a Friday night supper. Great that it's in walking distance so you can have a sneaky drink or two. Very friendly staff. Will definitely go again.
So close to perfection but I have to give the "Bay Leaves Larder" 5 stars as 4 wouldn't be enough. The smallest of changes required and one is down to my sensitive taste buds. If the plates could be warmed and some tomato puree added to the baked beans to remove the taste of the tin, perfection would be achieved. A nice upgrade to the breakfast would be to have sourdough toast as an option. We have been trying to find a local place serving local produce for a great breakfast and so far this place tops the bill.
